At Villa Lavanda in Noci, close to Alberobello, every day begins with a delicious, extensive breakfast that is reserved at the restaurant of the 150-metre-away ancient farmhouse Masseria La Mandra. Your choice of sweet and/or savoury, vegetarian etc. and dietary requirements are taken into account.
Villa Lavanda is located in the countryside, surrounded by fields and farms, yet so centrally situated that the airport, 2 coasts and a large part of Puglia are within reach, and the distance to Matera is just 45 minutes, Alberobello only 17 km away, and to the nearest beaches on the Ionian Sea 23 km. To the Adriatic Sea it is 37 km and this can be nicely combined with, for example, a visit to Monopoli, Polignano a Mare or Ostuni.

The agriturismo restaurant 150 m. away at the same private road, run by daughter Dita and her family, is always open for Sunday Puglian lunch. This does last a few hours and for this reason there are only a handful of restaurants open on Sunday evening. Most Italians have only recently finished their lunch then.
From March to the end of June and from September to the end of October, a group of American and Canadian cyclists come to lunch on Thursdays and also most Tuesdays.
B&B guests can then also make reservations for lunch and will of course sit separately from the group at their own table.
Also nearby is the agriturismo restaurant run by Carla and her husband. The distance is 1.5 km. and you always eat wonderfully at their place too and all guests are always very enthusiastic about these 2 options. You can ask us beforehand to make a reservation here for you. At 5 km. there is also a restaurant and in Noci itself a more than ample choice of Agriturismi, pizzerias and restaurants in every price range.
In your room you will find a guide with a selection of these and also for the surrounding places.
What you can visit among other things from Villa Lavanda:
Alberobello: the most famous place in Puglia with its many trulli and even a trulli church.
Martina Franca: the route to it is already magnificent and this charming place lies on the edge of the Itrie Valley. Every Sunday there is a lively antique and curiosity market somewhere in the Itrie Valley and in the summer months the lyrical festival of the Itrie Valley.
Places in the valley such as Cisternino and Ostuni, the White City. In Ostuni there is an antique and curiosity market every 2nd Sunday of the month and not to be forgotten the many Trulli. In the area around Ostuni also magnificent townhouses.
Bari: magnificent with the cathedral with the crypt of St Nicholas at the edge of the ancient city. There is also the castle. A beautiful boulevard and shops for every budget. There is an excellent connection with the scenic railway from the edge of Bari, allowing you to relax and enjoy this city without traffic and parking stress. Ferry services from Bari to Greece, Croatia and Albania. There are bicycles for hire and cycling excursions. There are also city walks with locals.
Taranto: a large sea and naval port. A city with an impressive history and remains from the Greek period and a museum with objects from the Greek period. Castle. Known for its fresh fish and mussels. Dolphin spotting with nature conservationists.
Matera: 45 minutes drive and you are in a completely different world. It is a city of cave dwellings and churches and many national and international films have been filmed here. A magnificent museum. Since Matera was Europe's Cultural Capital in 2019, we recommend you visit this special city during your stay here. It is only 45 minutes drive. Matera features prominently in the latest Bond film.
Monopoli: a beautiful place on the Adriatic coast, easily combined with a beach visit. Excursions on the Adriatic Sea with a large wooden sailing yacht.
Lecce: you need to drive a bit longer for this. 1.5-2 hours, but it is worth it with the amphitheatre and all its baroque architecture. There is a little train along all the baroque monuments and there are Rickshaws for hire.
The Castellana caves: half an hour's drive and well worth visiting.
The 2 coasts: the nearest at 25 minutes drive and to the Adriatic coast it is 37 km drive.
The beautiful land and sea nature park Torre Guaceto: swimming, cycling excursion, walking excursion, diving, little train, rare birds, sea turtles, for which they also have a help centre for small turtles to be released and also for injured turtles. If possible they show this during the walking tour. We certainly recommend you visit this park. Interesting for birdwatchers and also at S Margarita di Savoia you can do an excursion in the salt pans, where among other things flamingos can be seen. We did this recently and it was very interesting.
We can also guide you if you want to buy a house in Puglia. A nice house can be found for every budget. Often completely furnished, even with inventory and a large swimming pool, but also much more modest and possibly still to be renovated. I am a property finder, not a real estate agent and independent of any real estate agent. I am on the side of the buyers and provide a tailored portfolio of houses, arranging the viewings and their translations, the negotiations, ensuring that everything is checked, right through to signing at the notary's. You then have someone who considers your interests as their priority and not an estate agent who acts for both the seller and the buyer, because you simply cannot put both parties' interests first. Through targeted inspections you want to prevent nasty surprises afterwards and we help you buy safely and know the market well.
For people establishing themselves from abroad in Puglia in a municipality with less than 30,000 inhabitants, there is a flat tax of only 7% on their pension and any other income from abroad for the first 10 years.
