The coast around Altea has a microclimate that makes winters significantly warmer than in the rest of Europe. Between Alicante and Altea, the mountain range extends right down to the Mediterranean Sea, which protects the coasts of Altea and the surrounding area from cold in winter and from heat from inland Spain in summer. Puerto Campomanes offers a variety of sports opportunities. You can go diving, fishing, surfing, kayaking, there is a sailing school and yachts for rent. There are numerous bars and small restaurants where you can eat very well. Golf enthusiasts will also find what they're looking for in Altea. Don Cayo Club de Golf, a 9-hole golf course at Altea la Vieja set against the backdrop of the Bernia mountain range, offers spectacular views of the surrounding area. Altea is a museum in itself and the most artistic town on the Costa Blanca. We can also recommend numerous fun excursions and will be happy to guide you to the delicious restaurants in Altea and the surrounding area. Altea has approximately 5 km of beach with Cap Negret in the North, La Roda and Cap Blanc in the South. Around the marina are the beaches of Pueblo Macarat. Not the overcrowded areas like Benidorm, Calpe or Alicante, but beaches with beautiful views and lovely coves with sandy and pebble beaches.
